ENHANCING YOUR POOL’S LONGEVITY WITH EXPERT POOL CHEMICAL MAINTENANCE

A crystal-clear pool is an oasis of relaxation and recreation. Yet, achieving and maintaining that perfect balance of sparkling waters requires more than just routine cleaning. Enter the world of pool chemicals, the unsung heroes of pool care.

Below, we’ll uncover the secrets to ensuring your pool remains a sanctuary of serenity and enjoyment. From pH levels to alkalinity, and from calcium hardness to chlorine balance, we’ll walk you through the essentials of pool chemical maintenance. So, let’s dive in and discover how to make your pool’s waters a shimmering invitation to a refreshing escape.

Monitor your pool chemical levels

Maintaining your pool’s pH levels is akin to creating a perfect recipe; balance is key, with a sweet spot around 7.4-7.6. The main ingredients to watch are pH, alkalinity, and calcium hardness levels. Think of it as baking a cake—the right proportions matter. Your pool water doesn’t require gallons of milk, just a careful eye.

pH Levels

pH levels can be influenced by various factors, from rain to people taking a dip. Extremes are to be avoided; too low indicates acidity, while too high, although acceptable, isn’t ideal. Have a pH increaser handy for adjustments and keep an eye on alkalinity levels, as they also impact pH.

Alkalinity

Aim for alkaline levels between 100ppm and 150ppm, although this can vary. Alkalinity acts as a buffer, stabilising pH by absorbing substances that might otherwise alter it. Given its propensity to fluctuate, keeping an alkalinity increaser nearby is a wise move.

Calcium

Think of calcium as your pool’s essential nutrient. In its absence, your pool may draw calcium from its plaster, leading to calcification. Avoid this by introducing calcium hardness chemicals, ensuring the longevity of your pool’s walls and floor.

Monitor Chlorine levels with a Salt Chlorine Generator

Maintain chlorine levels around 1ppm, achievable through chlorine tablets or alternative methods like powdered pool chlorinators or salt water chlorinators. The latter is an ingenious device, converting table salt into salt water, offering an efficient sanitization method. Not only is it eco-friendly compared to traditional chlorine, but it’s also safer for the environment.

Use pool chemicals for optimal water balance

Regularly check pool chemical levels, particularly pH and alkalinity. Adjust as needed using products designed for balance maintenance, either increasing or decreasing levels depending on the situation.

Sanitise your pool with Sea Minerals

Cleanliness is paramount for your pool’s well-being. While stabilised chlorine is a common choice, salt and minerals offer a gentler alternative. Dead sea salt, known for its skin benefits, serves as an excellent pool sanitiser. Derived from the world’s deepest lake in Tiberias, Israel, studies highlight the positive effects of its magnesium salts.
