The Heart of Every Gathering

For us at Laguna, designing for entertaining is about more than creating a beautiful backdrop – it’s about crafting spaces that bring people together with ease, warmth and intention.

Entertaining looks different for everyone. For some, it’s spontaneous drinks by the pool. For others, it’s weekend lunches that stretch into evening, or quiet moments shared under the stars. Whatever it looks like, we design spaces that feel effortless – spaces that become the heart of every gathering.

From alfresco zones to champagne shelves, sunken lounges to seamless indoor-outdoor flow, see how we design pools that bring people together, in all the ways that matter.

Real Project Highlight: Built to entertain on the Bellarine Peninsula

High above the coastline of the Bellarine Peninsula, this striking infinity pool was designed to do more than just complement a modern architectural home – it was built to become the heart of everything.

With panoramic views across Port Phillip Bay and Scotchmans Hill Vineyard, the design needed to deliver on both scale and presence. For a family of five – with three energetic boys and a home constantly full of visitors – the brief was to create a pool and outdoor zone that could entertain with ease, all year round.

Spanning 13 x 4 metres, the pool includes a generous spa, full-length bench seating and a shallow beach entry that makes space for social connection, play and relaxation – all without compromising the swim zone. The pool’s surface is fully tiled in premium Bisazza mosaics, shimmering with the shifting light from sunrise to sunset. A full-length rolled wet edge merges into a sharp knife-edge wet deck gutter, creating a visual line so seamless it feels sculptural.

Entertaining flows effortlessly from the inside out. The pool sits adjacent to a large undercover alfresco with outdoor dining, BBQ, lounge areas, and a firepit with curved stone seating. Beyond that, a network of pathways, planting and platforms makes the entire space feel open, flexible and ready to host – from casual weekend gatherings to more intimate evening moments.

This is a pool designed not just for how it looks — but for how it brings people together. A space where connection happens effortlessly, and every gathering feels like something to remember.

Design elements that support entertaining

Tiles:
Tumbled contemporary stone or textured, soft neutral tones – surfaces that look refined and beautiful while feeling comfortable underfoot.

Pool design cues:
Champagne shelves for casual conversations, built-in benches and cocktail ledges for lounging, wide steps that double as relaxed seating zones, integrated spas that invite guests to stay a little longer.

Styling accents:
Outdoor kitchens ready for long lunches, tennis courts and trampolines to keep kids busy, festoon lighting for atmosphere, bar seating and firepits for gathering.

Atmosphere:
Sociable. Stylish. Effortless. Spaces that flex for play, pause and parties – however you choose to gather.
