For us at Laguna, resort-style living is about more than aesthetics – it’s about creating spaces that transport you, without ever leaving home.
Relaxation means different things to different people. For some, it’s a twilight spa under the stars. For others, it’s reclining poolside with a view, or starting the day with a quiet moment by the water. Whatever it looks like, we design with atmosphere in mind – combining elegance, indulgence and detail to create spaces that feel like a true escape.
From infinity edges to poolside lounges, curated planting to soft, architectural lighting, see how we design outdoor spaces that elevate everyday life – and bring resort living home.
Real Project Highlight: Elegance in the Yarra Valley
In the Yarra Valley, this elegant 25-metre pool was designed to offer more than just function – it was built as a place to pause, unwind, and feel immersed in the surrounding landscape.
Running the full length of the home, the pool anchors the outdoor living zone with calm, linear beauty. Designed in collaboration with Daniel Ash Architects and custom-built by Laguna, it integrates a spa at one end and a full-length infinity edge that blurs the boundary between water and landscape. The result is a space that feels restful by nature – a place where architecture, land and lifestyle come together with ease.
Dark grey mosaic tiles give the water a deep, glassy finish, mirroring the soft curves of the surrounding hills and adding a quiet sense of drama at every hour. As the light shifts through the day, so too does the mood of the space – from a crisp morning swim to a twilight soak in the spa, gently lit and perfectly still.
Framed by decking and expansive glass, the pool becomes an extension of the living space – always present, always inviting. It’s not just a feature of the home, but an essential part of the way the owners rest, recharge and take in the view.
This is relaxation, redefined in the Yarra Valley. A personal resort – designed for the way you want to live.
Design elements that support relaxation & resort living
Tiles:
Tumbled limestone, creamy travertine, or custom-cut sandstone — cool underfoot and timeless in tone. Paired with mosaic or bespoke glass pool tiles, the water reflects soft hues and sparkles throughout the day, echoing the feel of a luxury retreat.
Pool design cues:
Infinity edges that draw the eye to the horizon, integrated spas for relaxation and built-in shallow zones made for lounging. Minimalist coping and clean lines maintain an uninterrupted visual flow, allowing the landscape to take centre stage.
Styling accents:
Architectural lighting to create mood after dusk, outdoor showers to rinse and reset and resort-style additions like sheer curtains, poolside cabanas and plush sun lounges – all designed to encourage stillness and indulgence.
Atmosphere:
Sophisticated. Indulgent. Effortlessly luxurious – a sensory experience that transforms your outdoor space into a five-star escape, every day.

What should your pool incorporate to make it a 5-star resort?
If you’re designing for resort-style luxury, every detail should evoke escape – from the first glimpse of the water to the way the space glows at night.
Consider incorporating:
- An infinity edge or seamless visual line
- A built-in spa or shallow ledge for reclining
- Natural, tactile finishes and soft, timeless tones
- Architectural or ambient lighting for evening use
- Framed views that create a sense of openness
- Low noise filtration for a peaceful soundscape
- Generous lounging zones that feel indulgent and spacious
