They are designed to provide swimmers with a comfortable amount of room for at least 10 swim strokes, and are usually installed down the sides or along the length of a property. A lap pool doesn’t have a minimum size but is typically 2 metres wide by 10 metres long. Typically, lap pools are rectangular in shape with their dimensions ranging from 12 to 25 metres or more in length and three metres or so wide. This makes them around one or two average swimming lanes wide.
While the depth of a lap pool can vary based on the preferences of the homeowner, they are most often around 1.2 metres deep. Our lap pool designers can guide you on the best dimensions for your space for optimal outcomes, and as all Laguna pools are custom designed and built - there are no limitations!
One of the advantages of a lap pool is that they are well suited to narrow or small spaces such as along the side of a home or a property boundary.
Although the length can be customised to suit the space, it is recommended to have at least 9 to 12 metres in length available for a lap pool. Without this, to practise swimming laps becomes near impossible.
