There was never going to be a compromise on colour.
When Kate Walker Design (KWD) set out to create this Mount Martha backyard, the water itself became one of the most important design decisions. The team searched extensively for a tile that would recreate the clear aquamarine tones they had envisioned, eventually discovering the perfect match in Klay’s Amano Ice Blue mosaics, now affectionately known as Biscayne Blue.
Everything else was designed to support that decision.
The 10 x 3.6 metre pool provides a clean, elegant centrepiece, while the curved spa 3.2 x 1.7m introduces a softer element that sits comfortably within the surrounding landscape. Wide limestone edging, crisp detailing and carefully proportioned spaces allow the water to become the hero, changing colour throughout the day as the light moves across the garden.
For Laguna, projects like this are about honouring the designer’s vision while delivering the level of craftsmanship needed to make it a reality. Every tile, every radius and every finish was executed with the same level of care that went into selecting them.
The result is a pool that feels effortless today because nothing about it was left to chance.
We have had the pleasure of working alongside Kate and a carefully selected design team chosen to transform Biscayne. Read the full editorial on the KWD blog.
