Located in bayside Middle Park, this refined pool and spa built by Laguna brings architectural elegance to life, seamlessly extending the sculptural form of the home into the surrounding garden.
Designed by Perkins Architecture, the pool and spa were envisioned as integral elements of the residence – enhancing the visual connection between indoor and outdoor spaces, while providing a luxurious setting for family leisure. Entrusted with bringing the design to life, Laguna delivered an 8 x 3.2 metre full-perimeter wet-deck knife-edge pool with an integrated 3.2 x 1.4 metre spa, set within a layered landscape of soft planting and sculptural detailing.
Finished in Bisazza Budapest glass mosaic tiles, the pool shimmers with depth and movement, framed by brushed travertine coping that provides a refined architectural edge. Curved elements, including the integrated spa and sweeping champagne shelf, echo the bold forms of the home and soften the pool’s presence within the garden. A concealed gutter system sits beneath the entire perimeter, allowing water to spill evenly from all sides – creating a glass-like surface that reflects its surroundings.
Despite its serene appearance, the design required precise execution. The knife-edge detail demanded millimetre-perfect tiling and exact water calibration, while the curved geometry of the spa introduced added complexity during installation. A standout feature is the custom acrylic viewing window visible from the home’s gym below, requiring specialist engineering, waterproofing and alignment to ensure both aesthetic and structural success.
This considered and highly resolved design exemplifies Laguna’s ability to deliver complex architectural pools with precision and care. Visually striking and beautifully integrated, it’s a pool that defines the outdoor experience while complementing the home’s distinctive architecture.
