Occupying one of Brighton’s most impressive residential properties, this project forms part of a landmark estate where scale, craftsmanship and attention to detail are evident at every turn.
Delivered alongside Venn Architects, the pool was designed to complement a substantial heritage renovation while responding to the broader vision for the property. Expansive lawns, mature trees, formal gardens, a tennis court, pool house and covered alfresco each contribute to an outdoor environment designed for entertaining, recreation and everyday enjoyment on a grand scale.
At the heart of the landscape is a 12 x 4 metre swimming pool paired with a 4 x 1.8 metre spa. Running the entire length of the pool is an oversized champagne shelf, creating a generous zone for relaxation while reinforcing the strong linear form of the design.
The pool’s elongated proportions enhance the scale of the property, drawing the eye from the main residence towards the pool house beyond. On one end, a lounge setting positioned beneath an established canopy of trees provides a private place to retreat. On the other, the pool connects directly to the alfresco and pool house, supporting effortless movement between swimming, dining and entertaining.
Material selections were chosen to reflect the calibre of the home and landscape. The pool and spa are fully tiled in Avoca CMC450 ceramic mosaics from The Pool Tile Company, creating a soft, luminous water colour that shifts throughout the day. A mitred edge and 80mm downturn from the pool to the spa delivers a precise architectural finish, while the full-tile interior reinforces the refined detailing found throughout the project.
Behind the scenes, an in-floor cleaning system provides efficient circulation and simplified maintenance, ensuring the pool remains as practical as it is visually striking.
From the heritage residence through to the pool house at the rear of the site, every element of this property has been designed and delivered with longevity, quality and lifestyle in mind. The pool stands as a centrepiece befitting the scale and ambition of one of Brighton’s most remarkable homes.
