Positioned on a generous half-acre block in Doreen, this custom-designed pool and landscape by Laguna transforms a once underutilised backyard into an elevated, resort-style retreat for the entire family.
Initially engaged to replace an ageing fibreglass pool and tennis court, the homeowners approached Laguna with a vision for a connected outdoor space that would offer both relaxation and functionality. Working closely with Laguna’s Landscape Designer, the design evolved to feature a dramatic 15 x 5-metre pool with a 30-degree angle and a striking 12-metre infinity edge, gently curving at the top end to echo the natural lines of the garden.
Laguna’s landscape design extended these sculptural curves into the broader outdoor area, incorporating sub-tropical planting, curved decking, a custom circular steel canopy, and a raised spa positioned at the pool’s angled pivot. The result is a space that flows seamlessly from the home’s enclosed alfresco area, with a consistent design language throughout.
The pool itself is fully tiled with custom mosaics from The Pool Tile Company, featuring soft blush tones and hints of rose gold that shift with the changing light. A 2.5-metre beached entry creates an inviting and safe space for children, while the elevated pool structure reduces the need for intrusive fencing, allowing uninterrupted views across the landscape.
To accommodate the sloping site and complex geometries of the infinity edge, Laguna installed approximately 50 bored piers beneath the structure, ensuring long-term stability and performance. A sunken wet-edge pit was also integrated to maintain a clean visual line while supporting the pool’s hydronic performance.
This refined outdoor space exemplifies Laguna’s ability to transform challenging sites into cohesive and luxurious environments. Reflecting on the outcome, the clients noted that the space has become the heart of their home – a place to gather, relax, and enjoy year-round.
