Located in Melbourne’s CBD, Arima Day Spa is a Japanese-inspired wellness retreat built around warmth, water and the opportunity to slow down.
Laguna worked closely with Origin Square Property Consulting and Alphac Design & Build to help plan how the different bathing spaces would work together, from the shared heated pool through to the seven individual wellness pods. This included considering circulation, privacy, guest movement and how each body of water would contribute to the overall spa experience.
The 5.62 x 3.16 metre pool features generous wraparound bench seating and 12 integrated spa jets, creating a communal space where guests can relax, recover and spend time in warm water. Finished in CMC305 Dark Grey tiles from The Pool Tile Company, the pool takes on a deep, calming water colour that suits the atmosphere of the retreat.
The seven one-metre pods, each heated to 38 degrees, offer a more private experience. Their smaller scale allows guests to step away from the shared pool and enjoy a quieter, more personal form of thermal bathing. Together, the pool and pods give Arima the flexibility to offer different types of wellness experiences within the one venue.
Delivering multiple heated bodies of water in a commercial environment required careful coordination across design, structure, hydraulics, heating, waterproofing and daily operation. By contributing early to the planning of the separate pool and pod areas, Laguna was able to help shape a layout that supports both the guest journey and the practical needs of the business.
The result is a commercial wellness destination where every pool and pod has a clear role, and where the technical work behind the scenes allows the experience itself to feel calm, seamless and considered.
