At the centre of this contemporary Moonee Ponds home sits a pool and spa designed to be seen, experienced and enjoyed from almost every room.
Designed and built by Laguna in collaboration with Dean Dyson Architects, Gama Homes and Josh Norman Landscapes, the project was delivered alongside a major renovation and extension, requiring careful coordination between all project partners to ensure the pool felt seamlessly integrated into the home’s architecture. Rather than positioning the pool at the edge of the property, the design places water at the heart of the home, strengthening the connection between the indoor living spaces and the landscape beyond.
A raised circular spa forms the centrepiece of the design. Measuring 2.5 metres in diameter, the spa with feature tiling gently spills into the adjoining 6.7 x 4.4 metre pool, creating movement, texture and a calming visual presence throughout the courtyard.
The clean architectural lines of the home are softened by layers of planting and natural materials. Limestone paving, glass mosaic finishes and carefully selected greenery work together to create a space that feels refined yet welcoming. Large windows and sliding doors frame views of the pool from throughout the home, ensuring the water remains a focal point whether you’re entertaining outdoors or relaxing inside.
While the finished result feels effortless, achieving the clean architectural aesthetic required a high level of craftsmanship. Particular attention was given to the curved spa detailing and the transition between the ceramic coping and glass mosaic finishes, ensuring every surface aligned seamlessly and reinforcing the sculptural quality of the design.
The result is more than a pool and spa. It is a central gathering place that brings together architecture, landscape and lifestyle, creating an outdoor environment that feels connected, considered and effortless.
