Some projects evolve over time.
Several years after Laguna built the infinity-edge pool at this Brighton East residence, the owners entrusted us again to create the final piece of their outdoor retreat: a bespoke raised spa designed to complement the existing pool, architecture and landscape.
Rather than competing with the strong geometric lines of the original pool, the spa introduces a softer, more intimate experience within the garden. Its circular form sits beneath a striking pavilion structure, creating a dedicated destination for relaxation that feels connected to, yet distinct from, the larger outdoor environment.
Positioned amongst layered planting by Paul Pritchard Landscape Design, the spa becomes immersed within the landscape. The surrounding garden softens the structure and creates a sense of enclosure, allowing the space to feel private, sheltered and removed from the everyday.
Finished in Perini Omnia Brown recycled glass mosaics, the spa takes on a rich, organic character. The subtle variation within the tiles creates depth and movement across the curved surfaces, while complementing the darker architectural palette used throughout the property.
The circular geometry presented its own construction challenges. Every surface, junction and curve required careful consideration to ensure the tiling flowed seamlessly around the spa’s form, creating a refined finish from every angle.
The result is a spa that feels as though it was designed as part of the original plan. A place to unwind, reconnect and enjoy the landscape from a different perspective, while extending the lifestyle already created around the original Laguna pool.
